Summer School

We are delighted to offer all incoming Year 6 pupils a place at the Saint Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Academy Summer School which will be taking place between Monday 16th August and Friday 20th August 2021.

The transition from primary to secondary school is known to be a challenging one for some pupils, and the impact of the pandemic has increased this challenge. We recognise that pupils leaving primary school this year may have missed a significant proportion of key stage 2 face-to face teaching and therefore missed valuable preparation for secondary education. Our summer school will therefore have an academic focus on literacy and reading, for pupils of all abilities, to support the transition to the key stage 3 curriculum.

Our summer school will also offer a blend of both academic and exciting enrichment opportunities and those pupils involved will have an opportunity to build a community with their fellow pupils, forge relationships with new teachers and familiarise themselves with their new school environment. In addition to academic tutoring in small groups, pupils will also have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of enrichment activities.

If your child is joining the Saint Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Academy community in September and you would like to take up the offer of a summer school place for your child, please click here to register your interest. Please do so before Friday 4th June at 3pm.
